Word Processor Pac

The Word Processor Pac was the Sorcerer’s ‘killer app’, it contained a cartridge based version of the popular CP/M word processor Spellbinder by Lexisoft for only $199.  This was an amazing deal for Sorcerer customers as most word processors of the time were disk based, expensive, and required extra hardware.  Spellbinder was a fairly competent and polished word processor with a variety of features that suited both home and business users.  Files could either be stored to tape or disk (with the S-100 expansion) or printed out to one of the many printers that were available at the time.

Interestingly the list of changes in version 1.1 of the Sorcerer Monitor program mentions a bug that caused a vertical tab instead of a horizontal tab when the tab key was used with lower case letters.  This bug was specifically not fixed because it would break the Word Processor Pac.  Another bug in the original 1.0 Monitor caused the keyboard scan routine to reset the serial port speed, this did not affect the Word Processor Pac because it used its own keyboard routine.
